10 NAREIM Fellows to watch in 2021
NAREIM Fellows
November 4, 2020
NAREIM is pleased to reveal the new class of Jeff Barclay Fellows and to introduce them to the NAREIM membership.
The class of 2020-21 was selected by NAREIM’s Executive Officer committee and is one of the strongest fields yet – with a total of 45 candidates nominated from eight graduate programs.
In honor of NAREIM’s 30th anniversary, 10 candidates were selected as finalists to participate in and introduce themselves at the NAREIM Executive Officer meeting, which was held October 20-21, 2020 and which also featured Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr as keynote speaker. Traditionally, just five candidates become Fellows.
Executive leaders heard directly from the Fellows about where they see the most exciting opportunities for our asset class, with a strong focus on the use of data to guide real estate investment decisions, the need for greater affordable and workforce housing, and the rise of sustainability and ESG as part of our projects.
NAREIM members can connect directly with our Fellows, who will also get involved with NAREIM's programing through the remainder of 2020 and into 2021. The Fellows include:
Anastasia Gillen, Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management
Anh Duc Tran, Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management
Caroline Giroux, Columbia Business School
Caroline O'Neill, UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School
Diego Fernandez Briseno, MIT, Center for Real Estate

Liz Trautz, Wisconsin School of Business, Graaskamp Center

The Executive Officer committee judges included: Jane Page, Lionstone Investments; June Mnnushi, The CenterCap Group; Josh Myerberg, Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investment; Peter DiCorpo, The Allen Morris Company; Russ Bates, Cedar Hall Capital.
The Class of 2020-21 will participate in other NAREIM activity through the year, including upcoming NAREIM meetings, contribute to the Spring issue of NAREIM Dialogues and connect directly with senior leaders within our member firms.
