83% of HR managers rank employee engagement and development as the most energizing job responsibility

NAREIM Member Survey results: HR Professional Development

Nov. 10, 2023

Eight out of 10 HR professionals within real estate investment management firms cite employee engagement and development as their most energizing job responsibilities, according to the latest NAREIM member survey on professional development for HR leaders. Of the firms surveyed:

  • 67% of firms want fewer repetitive tasks and meetings with no agenda or action items

  • 36% of firms want specialists and consultants in every area of HR, instead of one generalist

  • 34% want more training on compensation practices and DEI trends

Findings of the survey, the latest in a series of NAREIM member pulse reports covering topics of concern for member firms, reflect HR leaders' aspirations to:

  • Move away from administrative tasks and take on more strategic roles within Talent Management, especially when budget constraints limit hiring

  • Stay abreast of trends and policies

  • Understand current priorities and challenges in a deal-constrained environment

  • Free up time and improve efficiency with AI and technology

  • Create the most impact on their organization and brand
