Black Real Estate Roundtable is a NAREIM-wide employee resource group for Black professionals in real estate investment management. Black Real Estate Roundtable is the only networking experience of its kind for junior- and mid-level professionals, along with a selection of invited senior and executive officers from within NAREIM’s membership.

As with all NAREIM events, you come to Black Real Estate Roundtable to make meaningful connections professionally and personally, and to drive forward the collective mission of making real estate investment management more diverse, equitable and inclusive. Black Real Estate Roundtable offers an unparalleled gathering experience designed to help you reconnect with diverse professionals at all levels of experience throughout the year - in order to discuss timely issues of importance and to share ideas and solutions.​

Registration fee: Free to attend. 

Eligibility: Attendance is limited to NAREIM members and invited guests only. 

 

  • Junior- to mid-level professionals: Attendance limited to no more than 2 employees per organization, subject to NAREIM approval.

  • Senior and executive officers: Attendance is by invitation only.

Covid vaccination and mask policy: As of 04.15.22, New York City does not require proof of vaccination for visitors to the Lotte New York Palace Hotel. Masks are optional in the public spaces of the hotel, and for the event. This notice will be updated as city and state regulations on vaccination and mask-wearing change.

A closed-door fireside chat features Black real estate investment management professionals in candid conversation with their industry peers.

  • Describe a situation when you did not have a mentor or sponsor - what did you do?

​In groups of no more than 4 per table, each with a mix of senior and executive officers alongside junior- to mid-level professionals, we will tackle 1-2 strategic challenges and brainstorm solutions for you to implement within your organizations, and across your networks.

Questions may include:

  • When I’m the only one like me at my firm, who do I look to for support? Mentorship? Advice?

  • How do I strike out on my own, or how do I advance within a corporate setting?

  • How do we as industry leaders support the career and personal development of the most underrepresented members of our industry?

  • How do we recruit more Black professionals into real estate investment management?

  • How do we grow awareness of career opportunities in real estate investment management?

  • Do we need to engage much younger people (middle and high schoolers), and who is doing this successfully?

  • What strategies are working well? What isn't working?
