The NAREIM Data & Information Management meeting is just the place to build genuine relationships and friendships.

Data Culture: Who owns the data? Policies and procedures

  • What do you need to see?

  • What are managers asking for and how is it used?

  • Are managers getting information from external parties as often as they need?

  • Best ways to structure committees?

  • How do you get 3rd parties on the same page as to how you process data? (JVs, managers)

  • Keeping high data quality; not changed by other sources


Data Models:

  • How do you find what you need or want?

  • Challenges? How do you distill key metrics?

  • What data are you looking to roll up? Key attributes, tenant rent roll, exposures

  • Vendor selection: Who's going to survive, who's going to get merged?

  • What are you deploying? Translating all the data that’s being gathered and integrating that into more complex, multivariate or multi scenario models


Customer Engagement: Aligning with Business Clients

  • How to establish a recurring cadence

  • Who is included?

  • How often are they meeting?

  • How are they being engaged?

  • What is being documented?

  • Structure meetings around where technology is providing services

    • Where are the gaps?

    • Is there anything in market we should be looking at?

    • How are you providing updates on ongoing projects?

  • Senior level advisory

    • How many people involved is too many?

    • How do you communicate changes to rest of organization?

    • What are the priorities? When do other ideas get incorporated?


Machine Learning/AI: Innovations for 2023/2024

  • How can these technologies help highlight problems with management?

    • Investment committee

    • Property managers

  • How do you make this sustainable?

  • How much is the technology investment worth? vs. having a human do it

  • How do dedicate resources, time to this?

  • Where are the struggles?

  • Are there any success stories? How were they structured?



  • What do you need to know about an asset?

  • What can you aggregate? How do you apply that to your investment strategy?

    • ESG: scores for different assets, different data providers, global funds

    • Operational: how do you prove its value? Best metrics to focus on

    • Financial: increasing revenue, tracking investor contributions

  • How can you establish stronger reporting?

    • What sorts of metrics want to be tracked consistently and reported on and used for decision making?
