Proptechs and real estate investment managers with Proptech portfolios face challenges in the current high interest rate environment, but also opportunities for leadership and expansion.

The Proptech sector in 2023 stood at a crucial juncture, reflecting significant transitions and revaluations due to many governments raising interest rates to fight inflation. Several key statistics paint a picture of a sector in flux. According to global financial services firm Baird, weekly average Proptech funding peaked in 2022 at $545 million, before plummeting in 2023 to $198 million. This change impacted more than 6,000 Proptech start-ups globally that require capital to exist.
