You attend meetings to network. At NAREIM, we honor the investment of your time by ensuring our content is focused on helping you build personal relationships with peers, who are facing the same challenges and opportunities as you.

The NAREIM Talent Management quarterly connection is intended to help you reconnect with peers throughout the year - in order to discuss timely issues of importance and to share ideas and solutions.

These quarterly connections are focused on whole room conversations with peers. At 90 minutes, NAREIM connections provide time for a deeper analysis of the key issue of the session - but don't overtake your day, not least as your return to the office environment and juggle the need for education and networking virtually against the day-to-day demands of your role.

Agenda

Quarterly Connection

June 24, 2021

3pm-4.30pm ET

This meeting is part of a quarterly series of connections organized by the NAREIM Talent Management Committee. Each year, there will be three virtual connections lasting between 60 and 90 minutes, plus one in-person networking meeting. In 2021, all meetings will be virtual.

  • 3pm: Welcome comments

    • Lisa Kizina, Chief Human Resources and Administrative Officer, National Real Estate Advisors

  • 3.05pm: Return to office: On the ground realities

    • Through case studies and whole group conversation, NAREIM members discuss:

      • Managing the physical return and the new workday. Updates from members back in the office and members close to large-scale returns. Employee reactions and considerations for space use.

      • Managing employee expectations. Who has come back? What's the impact of return between generations? What trends have you seen?

      • Managing the culture and corporate value proposition. Are you competitive with peers? What incentives are you providing to encourage return? What else should you be thinking about?

        • Case studies:

          • Angelique Kelly-Lara, Chief People Officer, Enterprise Community Investments

          • Sherrida Traynham, Senior Vice President, Clarion Partners

  • 3.40pm: Employee Engagement and Retention

    • Covid made us all rethink our lives. But what does that mean to your teams as they start returning to the office in greater scale? Was Covid the event that prompted them to reassess their future - and will small changes make some employees want to change direction? Whole group discussion, focused on:

      • Strategies for employee engagement post-Covid. Beyond compensation and bonuses, how are you further engaging with employees? What intangibles are being provided and offered?

      • Leadership and development training

      • How is the HR team? After a year of exhaustive work, what strategies are you employing to help retain your own employees and team?

  • 4.10pm: Onboarding, post-Covid

    • What does onboarding new talent look like post-Covid - and how are you reintegrating new employees who joined during the pandemic into office life and corporate culture. What does the onboarding process look like? How do you handle a hybrid onboarding process?
